Applies to: Scout Client v1.18.x
Scout 1.18 requires the following minimum configuration. Workstations below these specifications are not supported. Hardware requirements are unchanged from Scout 1.15 — the update is a runtime change.
Requirements
| Component | Minimum |
|---|---|
| Operating System | Windows 10/11 (x64), build 23H2 or later |
| Processor | Intel Core i5 11th gen or equivalent |
| Memory | 8 GB |
| Display Resolution | 1920 × 1080 |
Recommended for best performance (DirectX 12)
For the best frame rate and overall experience:
- 16 GB memory
- 12th gen (or later) i7 processor or dedicated GPU
- Up-to-date BIOS
- Up-to-date graphics driver(s)
Prerequisites
The Scout installer installs the following prerequisite software automatically on first run. No manual installation is required in most cases:
| Prerequisite | Version |
|---|---|
| .NET Desktop Runtime (x64) | 10.0.6 or higher |
| .NET Desktop Runtime (x86) | 10.0.6 or higher |
| Visual C++ 2017–2026 Redistributable (x64) | 14.50.35719.0 or higher |
| Visual C++ 2017–2026 Redistributable (x86) | 14.50.35719.0 or higher |
| Microsoft Edge WebView2 | 141.0.3537.85 or higher |
Microsoft Edge and a PDF viewer are also required, but are not installed by the Scout setup.
Compatibility notes
Scout 1.18 is functionally similar to 1.15. The primary change is an upgrade to the .NET 10 runtime, which does not alter workstation requirements, installation steps, or day-to-day use.
Why the runtime changed: .NET 8 reaches end of support on November 10, 2026. After that date Microsoft no longer provides security or servicing updates for it. Scout 1.18 moves to .NET 10 — a Long-Term Support release supported through November 2028 — so the client continues to receive security updates.
If your workstation met the requirements for Scout 1.15, it meets them for 1.18.
Note for machines upgraded from versions earlier than 1.14.0
Some customers upgrading from Scout versions prior to 1.14.0 will need to revert their display driver to the updated OEM display driver (Intel/AMD/NVIDIA). This does not affect machines that shipped on 1.14.0 or later.
